I have been an amateur photographer for many years. While I have exhibited my photographs on a number of occasions I thought it was about time to use the internet to show some of my work to a larger audience. While the media of the internet does not do justice to the technical quality of the original photographs I still think it is worthwhile sharing my photos. The aesthetic quality is not limited to my opinion but I hope, at least, you enjoy the images.
I spent over three decades working with film and chemicals; 95% of my work was black & white. B&W was cheaper, easier and quicker than working with colour film and chemistry. As a consequence I still like to manipulate many of my photographs in B&W. In 2005 I was dragged kicking and screaming into the digital world of photography. The ease and scope of making adjustments to a photo, whether B&W or colour, is simply phenomenal. Digital photography has opened up an immense toolbox for “developing” ones photographs, and ideas.
“The single most important component of a camera is the twelve inches behind it ….. You don’t take a photograph, you make it ….. Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution.” – Ansel Adams
The site contains examples of my work which spans the time since “going digital”! There are several galleries for you to browse.
